What Others Say

  • Columbus Children's Choir is lucky to have been a recipient of various grants from the Kiwanis Club of Columbus over the years, and most recently a generous Centennial Grant. Kiwanis is a special organization that really shows up for for children. And their support isn't just financial. When we received funds for new white boards, Kiwanians were there to do the heavy lifting and the installation. We will be counting on their service again this summer when we offer summer programing for the first time. Columbus Children's Choir fosters the growth of children through meaningful experiences in music. It's a big job and we need all the help we can get. The Kiwanis Club of Columbus dreams big just like us and we couldn't be prouder to work alongside them to serve kids.

Being a business owner, I miss the feeling of having colleagues around me at work. Joining a select number of groups is a way for me to create a community of colleagues of my own choosing. When I visited the Kiwanis Club of Columbus, the quality and character of the individuals in the room was immediately apparent. These are high level people I can learn from, volunteer with, and befriend. Joining the Kiwanis Club was my way of choosing colleagues for myself. It's important to be careful with whom you surround yourself, and associating with service-minded people who seek self-improvement and world improvement is clearly a good choice.

This past weekend (May 7, 2016) marked a historical milestone for one of the stalwarts of service in our community: the Kiwanis Club of Columbus. Their 100 year anniversary was celebrated with an unprecedented impact on the nonprofits that serve our community, with $100,000 granted beyond their usual annual investments. Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus received a $30,000 centennial grant from Kiwanis to support our Growth for Great Futures Initiative, a strategic plan to scale our programs to serve 10,000 at-risk youth by the year 2020. Specifically, the grant will be marked to underwrite costs associated with our Westside Club's relocation to the Hilltop neighborhood. A library in the new center will be named in Kiwanis' honor. Kiwanis has carefully guided our club's development over the years.

We are extremely privileged to be recognized by an organization like Kiwanis that intentionally focuses on youth serving organizations. We look forward to the opportunities we have in partnering with the agencies honored this evening and continuing to expand our collective impact on central Ohio youth. The YMCA of Central Ohio received a $30,000 grant from Kiwanis for critical updates at Hoover YMCA Park, one of the Association’s premier Day Camp locations.  This grant will allow the Y to have a greater impact on youth through expansion of its performance space for teens and renovation of the Park’s Adventure Area and Challenge Courses. On behalf of the YMCA of Central Ohio and all those who will enjoy their summer at Hoover YMCA Park, we are extremely grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Columbus for their generous support.  The newly renovated Adventure Areas will be named in Kiwanis’ honor.

The mission of Moms2B is to reduce the terrible problem of infant mortality in Columbus. For over five years, the Downtown Kiwanis Club has supported our mission. We are proud to call Kiwanis one of our community partners. Kiwanis understands the challenges we face and has been willing to lend a hand in our effort to save babies and promote healthier families.

On behalf of St. Vincent Family Center, we would like to thank Columbus Kiwanis Foundation for their generous gift of $12,000. This donation will help make good kids better by providing behavioral health care in a learning community to change the lives of children and families. At St. Vincent Family Center, we know that every child is good. He or she just needs a little extra help to work through issues. In many cases, we provide education at the same time the children are receiving treatment so they can return to school without the added pressure of falling behind. In more severe situations, we can provide a home for many children in our Residential Services until they can safely return to their families. For more than 135 years, St. Vincent Family Center has been a pillar in this community. Because of your generosity, we will continue to be here helping to make good kids better for years to come. Thank you again for your kindness.

Thank you for your generous donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio! Your charitable donation is what allows us to serve families of seriously ill children by providing a safe, warm and welcoming place to stay while they face one of the greatest challenges life can present - the illness of a child. Because we rely on the generous donations of our community, your gift is not only appreciated, but critical to our mission. Without you, we couldn't help over 4,500 families to be close to their hospitalized children. Thank you once again for your generous support of our programs and mission. You are a true friend of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio!
